Quality Function Deployment

Course Overview

The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) course was developed so that personal interface could be brought into the business of manufacturing. QFD bridges the gap between the producers and concerns of the users of industrial society because of the growing distance. Moreover, QFD establishes the link to the need of the customers with the design, engineering, manufacturing, development and the service functions.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the concepts and tools of QFD
  • Present the concepts of QFD to the management team which can be used as source of developing new products and processes
  • Understand the differences among the QFD for the manufactured and assembled services, business process, products, software, food, small business and chemical products
  • Recognize the differences between the QFD for the manufactured and assembled services
  • Submit the VOCT and House of Quality example within the timeframe of one year so that full status can be earned

Course Contents

  • Address issues with the customers, delivery, service, technology and design with the help of QFD
  • How and why QFD history and principles work
  • Case studies for product (services, business process, products, software, food, small business and chemical products)
  • Method of custom-tailored projects
  • Tools of QFD such as Affinity Diagram, Matrix and the Hierarchy Diagram
  • Understand the basic explicit and implicit requirements: Voice of the customer table
  • Place new products as per corporate strategy, the targeted customer and competition
  • Convert the needs of the customers into the product specifications - maximum value table and house of quality
  • Deploy each functional group that includes functions, components, facilities, creativity, quality control and the failure analysis

Course Methodology

The training is going to be highly interactive combination of lectures, group discussions, questionnaires, individual reflections, role plays, simulations and videos.

Target Audience

The course is designed for the QFD team members that include marketing and sales, research and development, internal quality consultants, quality teams, design teams, manufacturing teams, quality teams, trainers of Six Sigma/DFSS/MBB/BB, facilitators and the new product development teams.

Duration

02 Days (08:30–14:30) with appropriate breaks for tea/refreshments and lunch.
